Time to switch to Opaques!

It’s freezing out here in Montreal. Time to get the opaques out!!

I’m not a big fan of opaques because they don’t feel anywhere like a good pair of silk hosiery but it’s definitively a must-have in the cold days…

While wearing sheer semi opaque tights under pants outside, I actually felt colder than without wearing them! So opaques are the only option but also a good excuse to get outside wearing them openly using the good excuse of fighting the cold while enjoying wearing shorts.

For those looking for the most warmth out of tights, Wool hosiery is a must while cotton is also a good warm option although Wool feels better on the skin.

Wool tights (Merino ones especially) are thick and ideal for warmth. The down side is that they are delicate to wash, it requires a lot of care. Some people either love or hate the feel of wool on their legs, the alternative would then be wool blend.

Cotton tights are more common and also a great option for warmth, but don’t feel anything near wool on your skin. The plus are that they are comfortable and breathable, durable and easy to clean.

What I would recommend?

I don’t have many in stock but in #1 the Wolford Merino tights (http://www.wolfordshop.com/Merino-Tights/cp59640/si4462268/cl2/vt01/) with ribs too (http://www.zappos.com/wolford-merino-rib-tights-black?zfcTest=fac%3A1&zlfid=2)

or the Falke Merino wool ones (http://www.johnlewis.com/falke-soft-merino-ribbed-tights/p449089?colour=Brown&s_afcid=af_92295&awc=1203_1385697800_b0bae8a83596a8eeea0c834ebd76f4c8)

One thing I do when it gets cold is I’ll double up on sheers and opaques tights. I’ll wear my sheer supports under opaques and that combo will stop the most chilling winds! In turn, I have the support I need along with the warmth AND I can still wear shorts! How cool is that?!?!
