American Apparel, be our savior!
American Apparel has been struggling in the past couple of years although their approach is quite neat and are known for their colorful outfits and retro style / tight to the body styles they design.
AA was founded by … a Canadian in 1989. What makes them notorious is their provocative and controversial advertising campaigns that whether you like it or not, sets the tone of the brand. Colored lycra leggings, very 80’s but somehow very sexy too!
They design and manufacture their own products and carry many leggings and pantyhose. I had the opportunity to try a few, and they are not the best you could ever try but are not bad. Tights are part of their identity and given their approach of being provocative, why not start making hosiery for men?!
AA is already selling products that fits both men and women on their website, pantyhose would be just logically a continuity and given their power worldwide, could be part of a new campaign. People would then start seeing men wearing pantyhose on billboards all over the world and then encourage some to go buy some.
There is a definitive lack of products available in physical retail stores, so it’s just making sense to me that American Apparel be the first one to do so on a large scale. I am honestly wondering why it hasn’t been done before…
